Dr. Diego J. Palao Vidal

Dr. Palao, MD, PhD, is a physician and board certified in General Psychiatry (MIR) at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. He has been developing an intense clinical, teaching and research activity. He has also held various management positions in integrated psychiatry services.
He is currently the director of the Mental Health Service of the Corporació Sanitària Universitària Parc Taulí de Sabadell (Barcelona), which manages most of the public services specialized in mental health in the Vallès Occidental region. Dr. Palao is also a professor of psychiatry at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and senior investigator of CIBERSAM.
He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Health and Addictions Master Plan of Catalonia and is the coordinator of Catalonia’s Suicide Prevention Plan (PLAPRESC 2021-2025). He is also an elected member of the Board of the European Psychiatric Association and has collaborated with the World Health Organization – European Mental Health Program.
He has been the president of the Societat Catalana de Psiquiatria i Salut Mental and vice-president of the Acadèmia de Ciències Mèdiques i de la Salut de Catalunya i de Balears.
